Our last Nauvoo Day

trip odometer: 2580
miles traveled: 14

We started the day with a trip to the temple for Jacob, Isaac, Anastaya and myself.  It was so neat to be there.  We did baptisms with a big tour group and were lucky to have the temple president address us.  Then, we toured the sites where Joseph Smith lived while he was alive.  After the tours we were used to, the Church of Christ tour was a bit of a let down.  Our tour guide wasn't very animated and seemed defensive.  We did our last tours of historic Nauvoo sites, visiting: print shop, school house, cultural hall, and the pioneer activity area.

We were able to eat dinner with Sharon and Lynn and then watch them in Sunset on the Mississippi.  Sharon was so funny in her elderly widow role!  After the show, we watched the BYU Young Ambassadors do a performance.  They had so much energy and did a great job.  It did make for a late night though.  I think it was 10 pm when we got back to the house and I still needed to pack up our things and hook up the trailer.

We had a wonderful stay with Sharon and Lynn and the kids hated to leave.

  1. That is too bad that your Community of Christ tour of the Smith lands wasn't enjoyable. When Joel and I toured through, we really enjoyed our guide and the tour.
