Our Day in Denver

trip odometer: 3596
miles today: 26 (but over an hour in the car due to traffic)

We all slept in, but thanks to changing to Mountain Time from Central Time, we were still able to enjoy a full day of fun. After packing up camp, we stopped at Costco for a replenishment of supplies and then went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We spent six hours there and still didn’t fully explore it. The Expedition Health exhibit was really neat. We could see how we’d look at age 70 if we smoke/suntan/overeat. We could do different body challenges to check our fitness. There was a neat movie about how our bodies adapt to exercise that had special effects like wind, snow, and flashing lights. Jacob went to the Bodies Exhibit which he says was better than the one that came to Seattle while the rest of us saw the Imax film Arabia. I wish I could drive the kids there, it looks very exciting. Of course, the girls and I would have to wear a head scarf and maybe I couldn’t be the driver so that adds to the difficulties, not to mention there's a big body of water in the way! There were lots of taxidermy animals, a neat space exhibit, and a gems and minerals room. They find a lot of beautiful semi-precious stones in Colorado.

I bet you've never seen Miriam like this before!

The blue thing in Jacob's hand is a "head cold" virus he picked up in the musem.  He picked up the real thing in South Dakota!
Then, we drove through rush hour traffic for the 2nd time in Denver (we came in Thursday night during rush hour) to get to the hotel. It’s so new that Google maps and the gps were no help. We were able to find it through deductive reasoning. The room is very nice but sadly the pool is out of order for the weekend.

there is a small kitchen to the right and the door to the bedroom beyond the table
