Thursday night, we went out to Cascade Park for a Dickson family camp out. Cascade Park is a campground owned by our church. It's just $10 and you don't have to worry about noisy drunks in the campsite beside yours!
Grandpa Dickson was there and thought that since we were sitting around the campfire, we needed to be singing. Aunt Viv encouraged our girls camp girls to share some songs with us.
Ellie came dressed up for the occasion.
We brought our leftover ice cream cones and mini marshmallows to make campfire cones (stick marshmallows and chocolate chips in the cone, wrap in foil, throw in the ashes for a minute of so). Uncle Dave seemed to prefer handfuls of mini marshmallows. That man has a sweet tooth after my own heart!
Dode had to work Friday but he came out to spend Thursday with us, slept in the tent and left early Friday morning to get to work.
Anastaya and Allison enjoyed balancing on the teeter totter. They got up to 30 minutes of balance at one time. Great way to keep them out of trouble!
Friday morning we headed down to the Stillaguamish River which runs next to the campground.
Elizabeth and Jenna made it all the way across the river. The only area where they had to swim was around the rock they're standing on.
Someone had created a little wading pool that the little people enjoyed playing in. Randy was watching Ellie and Seth and did a good job of keeping the sun off Ellie's tender red head skin. See the long sleeves and pants?
After finishing off at the river, we headed to the slip and slide. The girls both told me they prefer ours at home. The bottom of the slip and slide at Cascade Park is pretty bumpy and there are a few areas on the hill where rocks are poking up, giving a pretty good knock in the back. Once everyone was good and beat up, we loaded up and headed for home. Sometimes, the work of packing and unpacking just seem like a lot of work for one night of camping but I'm glad we went!
