Winthrop Vacation

For our 3rd year in a row, we spent a week in Winthrop at Pearrygin State Park.

We love it because unlike Western Washington, Winthrop is in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains so the weather is nice and warm with minimal chance of rain. There is a lake to play on,

mountain biking,

easy access to daily ice cream (a must on our vacations!)

fishing (Elizabeth spends hours doing this!)

we always make time to visit our favorite independent bookstore, Trails' End Books, and follow up the visit by reading our new treasures.

because most of the kids are homeschooled, we take advantage of our flexible schedule and go the week after Labor Day.  During the week we're usually the only ski boat on the lake which makes for some smooth water in the morning.  The campground is also nice and quiet, except for our site!

  1. Now this is much better. Dorrel is with you, no accidents and great weather. Grandpa loved hearing about his fishing buddy still loving to fish. He might have a new fishing partner when he comes home. MY grandsons are handsome as ever. Miriam has changed the most since we've been gone. How I do love all of you. Thanks to Janice and Matt we could now see your blog. Grandpa looked at this first and ask I had seen it yet. I said not yet and he said I would sure enjoy it. Dec. 1st is our half way of our mission.

  2. Dode, isn't this the park where you stepped on the snake when you and Janice and I were our walking on the trails?
